Things I Read

As a family we're reading through 2 Samuel for devotions, but when not all the family is able to be at the dinner table, we read a chapter of Joel Beeke's Building on the Rock books. Last year we finished book one, How God Used a Thunderstorm, and this year we're doing How God Sent a Dog to Save a Family. They are short, sweet, and interesting testimonies to God's mercy and faithfulness. All the family enjoys them. I recommend.

Things I Listened To

I was listening to and older Pastor's Talk Podcast on the pastor's personal evangelism.

Things I Watched

I just watched a brief segment of a longer interview with Ben Sasse, which I haven't watched in full yet. Praying that his last leg is used by God to shine forth the incredible hope of the gospel in the face of death. His face is an incredible juxtaposition: bloody with the marks of death but confident in a merciful Savior. Watch here.

Things I Thought

I've heard this one before, and I'm reflecting on what it means for my ministry: "Most men overestimate what they can do in five years, but underestimate what they can do in thirty." Praying that the Lord would give me 30+ years at Grace Rancho, and that I would be faithful to watch my life and doctrine closely.

Quotes to Ponder

"Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace." — Jerry Bridges, The Discipline of Grace
