Things I Read
I'm listening to Jerry Bridges book The Discipline of Grace: God's Role and Our Role in the Pursuit of Holiness. A good introduction to understanding spiritual growth without falling into either legalism or antinomianism. Recommended.
Things I Listened To
Earlier I listened to Mark Dever and Jonathan Leeman discuss "On Fighting Boredom and Repetition" on the Pastors' Talk podcast. Edifying conversation. I suppose boredom can become an issue for pastors who do the same thing week after week, but at this point in my life and ministry, I have felt a lot of things, but never bored.
Things I Watched
It's Christmastime and we watch a lot of Christmas movies. We watched “Elf” and “White Christmas” this week.
Things I Thought
Last month I finished my second trek through C.S. Lewis' Ransom Trilogy, and they now inhabit a near permanent place in my thoughts. The whole thing is aimed to help instill a new way of viewing the world, providing a new cosmology. It really is incredible, and I highly recommend the books to teens and up. I have said that no other fiction books have ever altered my outlook on life as much as these.
